Things I'm Lovin' Friday

So I've been a slacker and haven't posted the things I'm lovin' in a couple of weeks (oops).
For those of you who can't wait until Fridays just so that you can read about what I'm lovin'...

*crickets chirrping*

Anyhoo...I apologize.

I have decided that I won't do a post every single week.  Some weeks I feel like I am grabbing straws trying to find something that I'm lovin that I think you guys would like to read about.  So I will only post when I think the thing(s) is absolutely FABULOUS!

I am also toying with the idea of posting things that I am lovin' from around Bloggyland.  And I may even make a button!  :-D Because seriously who wants to hear about me all the time.  I know I get tired of me. Opinions?  Anyone want to volunteer to be featured?  I may feature a craft or an entire blog...not sure yet.

With that all being said, I have something that I (ahem) did that I'm lovin' BUT I got the idea from a uber famous blogger, Dana at MADE.  I'm sure you all have heard of her and are followers of her fabulous blog.

When I saw this post I just knew I had to copy it.

It is SO COOL!!

I haven't just been slacking on these posts but also on my Halloween Decor.
So...I figured this would be a simple way to decorate that would make a big impact and hopefully make up for my major procrastination.  So far so good.

Here is my version of Dana's bats:

I cut about 60 of them out and put them up when my oldest was at school so that I could surprise her when we got home.  I just used scotch tape to stick them up.  We've had a few casualties but I just stick them back up.

This craft was so easy you could do it tonight and have decorations for Halloween weekend.

Last minute Halloween party decorations anyone?

You could also put them outside like Dana did but make sure you use duct tape. I decided to stick to the inside.

And here they are at night...

So there you have it, things I'm Lovin' Friday.

Today we are going to Natalie's preschool for their Fall Festival.  Natalie is going to be a Ballerina and Lily is Nemo.  I hope to get pictures of them in their costumes up soon.  Lily is now walking "fulltime" so when she waddles her little Nemo fintail swishes back and forth...it's so cute.

Maybe I will post a video of the cuteness!?

Have a safe and Spook-tacular Halloween weekend!

Baby Boom

It seems like every time I turn around lately someone else I know is pregnant.  Two of which have already welcomed their little ones into the world this week.  Congrats again!!

As some of you may know I make ribbon blankets a.k.a Lulu Loveys that I consign at a local baby store.  Well whenever I find out someone is having a baby the Lulu is my go to gift.  I found the cutest flannel at Joanne's.  I wish I could buy that whole section!  So many adorable patterns to choose from.
Here's what I made:

How cute is that argyle?  LOVE it!  And the little animals...eek!  Flannel has come a long way since lumberjack shirts!

The Lulu measures around 15" squared with 5 looped tags on each side.  My favorite part of the whole process is picking out the fabric and coordinating ribbon.  I usually spend more time on picking the right ribbon then actually sewing the blanket! :-)

The two bibs were made out of the the same flannel I used for the Lulu (obviously :-)) with solid white flannel to back and pearl snaps to close.  I usually make larger bibs with terry cloth to back but they are more for babies who are eating solid food.  I thought an all flannel bib was perfect for drool bibs.  And the flannel is soft enough that it won't irritate a newborn baby's skin.

My husband's cousin and my friend from college both had girls so I made two of these lulu and bib sets.  I hope they like them as much as I do!

She's going as Mike Tyson and I'll be Evander Holyfield

Hey there!  Just a quick post to share something funny, well it's funny now.

Lily, my 13 month old, is going to be Nemo for Halloween.  But after the last few days I am rethinking the whole idea.  She has picked up a lovey(sarcasm) habit...biting.  Not the I'm-biting-down-on-your -shoulder-because-I'm-teething type of biting but the I-don't-like-that-you-are-picking-me-up-because-I-want-to-walk-and-do-what-- want type of biting.  She has drawn blood...twice.  And after she just laughs and laughs.  Well her new habit has lead us to nicknaming her "Mickey" after Mike Tyson.  Saturday she went for my ear but luckily I was quicker.  Who knows if I will be so lucky next time!

Got any biting stories to share?  Only because I'd like to think I'm not the only one out there with a vampire for a child.  Unless she was the sparkly kind. ;-)

Yakity Yak Don't talk back!

Are you puzzled by my blog title?  For those of you who don't know that is a song by The Coasters.  I grew up listening to all types of music  from The coasters to The Doors to Willie Nelson.  My parents taste in music is pretty eclectic (and now mine is too!). I know the most random songs.   Now what does this have to do with crafts?  Well I made these (the coffee too)...

and they made me think of The Coasters and then I started singing the songs :-) Yes...that is how my crazy mind works.  The song is now stuck in my head and maybe yours now too.   "Just put on your coat and hat and walk yourself to the laundromat.  And when your finished doing that..." Sorry.

But back to the coasters...my coasters.  I saw how to make them on A Pretty Cool Life.  Recognize the fabric?  It's what I used for my Janey bird pillow.  I had some scraps and thought they would work great for makings some coasters.  If you want to find out how I did it click here.

Here's a picture of the back of them.  I used the same fabric that I used to back my pillow.

They are just the right size for my jumbo cup of coffee in the morning.

Does anyone else think about how tired they will be in the morning and look forward to having coffee? Or is it just me? :-)
