Things I'm Lovin' Friday

Hello out there!  Well it's Friday which means it's time for....

I don't know about you guys but I have had one hectic week.  I haven't done much projects because I have been getting for our yard sale.  UGH...it is so much work! The fact that all this stuff will be gone in a day is definitely something I am lovin'!!  Blog wise it has been great!  I have had so many sweet comments about my Janey Bird pillow and I was also given 2 blog awards!!  The first was from Gwen @ Gwenny Penny, Thanks again!! The second was from Mom of Two Boys (M.O.T.B.).  My next post will be in more detail about it.  I'm so honored to have gotten any award, let alone two!!

I did manage to get a couple of fun things done this week beyond the yard sale prep.  The first thing I accomplished was silhouette portraits of the girls and I am LOVIN' the way they turned out.  So much so that I even contemplated doing portraits of the dogs, he he.

You probably know by now that I'm all about quick, easy, and cheap and this project fit all three!  The only time consuming thing was getting my girls to hold still long enough to get a good profile picture. Say hello to the TV!☺

Once I got the pictures that I was happy with I printed them out on regular printer paper.  I had seen some tutorials where tracing paper was used over the photo to draw the silhouette then cut out to use as a template.  I see how that would be useful if your photos were on photo paper and you didn't want to mess up your picture.  But since I printed them out on regular paper I was able to skip that step and just cut it right out!

The next step was to trace around the picture on black card stock and then cut it out.  I used a craft knife which helped with all the little nooks and crannies.  I bought these white 8 x 10 frames at Ikea.

Oh how I ♥ Ikea.  They were each under $10.

Then I used my trusty ol' glue stick and glued them to gray card stock and then put them in the frames.

Here's the finished product...

And here they are hanging up...

Lurrrvvve them!!!

The other project I completed was one that has been in the works for awhile but I just never finished it.  I bought this mirror for $8 at Goodwill.

Not a fan of the speckled gold but I thought if I painted it could be beautiful.  So I primed it and then painted it heirloom white (my fave), and then it sat in the garage for months and months!

We are slowly changing out the finishes in our home.  The powder room off the kitchen has a nice pedestal sink but over it was one of those huge ugly builder grade mirrors with those hideous globe lights.   When my parents were here I asked them what they thought of hanging it there and we all agreed it was a great spot for it.  So my dad was awesome and took down the old mirror (YAY!!!) and smoothed out the wall.  Then I touched up the paint.  Here it is hung up.

(Please ignore the horrid lights, I'm currently searching for the right one) Not bad for $8! I'm definitely loving that!

Before I go I just wanted to say that I haven't forgotten some of the posts I have promised you guys. Besides the yard sale I have been working on getting Lulu's made for the shop I consign with, and making hallway decorations for my daughters preschool (I'm in charge of the theme and design). The pin the candle on the cupcake tutorial is almost complete and I also have more Halloween decorations with rub ons to show you.  I have so many ideas that I hope to share with you.  Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog and for those of you who are new here, welcome and thanks for stopping by!

Today I'm linking up at these part-tays:
