Puritan Humor

Say hello to John and Elizabeth Hopkins.  I hope you enjoyed the jokes as much as I did putting it together.   After painting these guys I just had to do something funny with them.

The joke about John wearing his son's hat came from the fact that the next size up of wooden hats (flower pots) made him look like Darth Vader.  So it was this or Darth Vader.  I hand painted both of them with craft paint. And then I applied gloss varnish to seal them.   I plan on making some children but making 18 more of these will take some time...HAHA!  Seriously though...they had a lot of children.  I also am going to add some accessories that I'm kinda excited about.

Now that Halloween is over I figured it is time to focus on Thanksgiving.  All the stores have completely bypassed the fact that Thanksgiving is the next big holiday.  As a result decorations that are specifically Thanksgiving are hard to find.  And if you do find some, well IMO, they aren't that great.  Here at my house we don't have ay decorations that scream Thanksgiving.  So I thought what says Thanksgiving more then Pilgrims?  They were very inexpensive to make but very time consuming.  After awhile I had to let go of being a perfectionist and tell myself they were good enough.  If I hadn't I'd probably still be doing some "touch ups" :-)

I'm currently working on multiple projects at once.  One being the next set of instructions for the quilt along...cutting the fabric!  I'll be posting about my progress here soon.

  12. Ok, I think they're super cute, so I definitely don't mean any offense by this. Do you think the man resembles Donny Osmond? Maybe just a tad? Or more than a tad? Maybe that's more offensive to Donny than your creative skills...

  14. Amanda-YES!! He SO looks like Donny Osmond! Painted a celebrity and I didn't even know it. And don't worry no offense taken. I'm so glad you pointed that out!
