A belated thank you and a blanket

A while ago I mentioned that I had won some giveaways and one hadn't arrived yet so I promised to show you when it did.  Well I finally took pictures and can now say a proper thank you to Amy from Ameroonie Designs for my awesome bat pillow!!

and all these other goodies!!

The cute spider didn't come with a deformed leg...unfortunately a certain 2 year old grabbed on and pulled :(  Poor spidey.

So thanks again Amy!!  I love everything you sent, and so do the kiddos!

In other news...

I've been doing some crocheting here and there.

I'm making a granny stripe blanket for the living room using "I love this cotton!" yarn from Hobby Lobby.  It is super soft and should be nice and warm.

My pattern is dk aqua, yellow, white, light aqua.  And  at each end will be a stripe of orangish red.

I have about 4 times as much of this to do still.  It's gonna be big!  I better hurry up and finish because it is cold outside and tomorrow we are supposed to get some snow!?!  What the what??

How's your weather?

I am, I said

To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair.

Too early for Neil Diamond?  Just couldn't write about a chair with out singing that song.  Such a weird song.  Anyhoo...on to my chair, chairs actually.  Remember the desk I bought for the hubby?  Well having something to sit at while working on said desk is optimal ;) and I wanted something rustic since the desk was very modern.   So when I saw these chairs on Cassie's website, I knew they would be perfect.

Primitive & Proper

I decided that I would take them both and use one for my desk as I was feeling like my current chair wasn't the look I was going for anymore.

Here's the one I chose for my desk...

Isn't she pretty??

Even better with this cutie sitting on her...

And here's the other chair in it's new spot...

Ugh the cords!!  They are the bain of my exisitance!!!  Why can't electronics be pretty?
Still have to do something with that drawer...I have an idea but not sure how it will turn out so I'll share only if it does :)

As for the chair I replaced on my desk?  I may paint it and donate it as part of the habitat heroes link party.  Wanna know more about this super cool party? Click here.

Master bathroom progress

Oh yeah I'm revamping our bathroom on the cheap, you know like new paint, new light etc.  And I say master bathroom but really our ONLY full bathroom.  Oh the joys of living in a 2 bedroom town home with  2 kids and 2 dogs.  Cosy is not the word I would use to describe it ;)   But it's home none the less.  What was I talking about?...oh yeah our bathroom.

So since you are just finding out about this let me give you a little bit of back story.  And I do mean little.  Picture your basic builder type bathroom with crappy medicine cabinet, ugly hollywoodesque lights that do nothing for my complexion, a mirror the size of the grand canyon, and blah beige walls.  It stayed this way for about um...2 years and when I was pregnant with Natalie and obviously nesting I thought it was time to paint it.  So I picked this color called Sprinkle...

(until recently I did not notice the potty humor in my color choice.  he he.) I also got rid of the crappy medicine cabinet, added some storage above the toilet, bought a new towel bar, and a new shower curtain.

This bathroom has NO windows so please excuse my crappy pics.

Because I am lame I forgot to take a before pic. You can kinda see it in these pics...

The color on the left in the pic below is the truest to real life.

I loved the color but it was BRA-ight and starting to wear on me.  I was longing for something more calming, tranquil even.  Enter my new paint color, tranquility by valspar.

It's a beautiful grayish, greenish aqua and I LOVE it!  I feel more tranquil just thinking about it ;)

So you want to see?  Now believe me when I tell you it was BRIGHT before and now it looks like this...

Okay so dangit!...the before color and the after look kinda the same in the pics but I promise they are not.  I tried with and without flash and opened all the curtains and blinds in our bedroom but this was the best I could get :(  Please Santa bring me a better camera!!  I've been good :D

After I repaint the ceiling, the trim AND the doors (BLURGH...) I plan on attacking this...

I am leaning towards a gray called sharkey grey by Martha Stewart.

I could do a white but I worry that it would look weird with our off white vanity.  Thoughts??
I am also thinking of trimming out the mirror to save money.  Or maybe I will score an awesome mirror at a thrift store that I can paint.

I picked up the white shower curtain on clearance at target with the intention of upcyling it somehow.  I've decided that I am going to paint it.  Either a pattern, large horizontal stripes or gradual stripes.  Not sure yet.  And I am thinking it will be in this awesome color...

Here's my inspiration pic that gave me the color ideas.  Mine will be more aqua, less gray, same amount of coral.  :)

So whatcha think? hate it? love it?  Have you painted cabinets before?  I figure I've painted furniture it should be about the same, right?...right?!

oh and I promised a post about a chair...

I'll tell you all about it tomorrow ;)

New clay necklaces in shop!

Pumpkin patch, painted pumpkins, and my sister's art work.

Last weekend I took my sister and the girls to Green Meadows Farm, a seasonal petting zoo and pumpkin patch.  We have gone the last 3 years and the girls love it!  There are pens of different types of farm animals and some you can even go in and pet.  They have cows you can milk, a pig race, hay ride and you get to pick out a pumpkin on your way out.  One of our favorite pens is the chickens.  Last year Natalie held a chicken and since then she could not wait to do it again.

Lily really enjoyed the chickens too! Well, she loved chasing them.

This guy they called "rockstar" I love his 80s hair band look! Do you think chickens go to rehab?  Okay baaaad joke.

They also had baby cows that you could go in and pet (SO cute), pigs, horses, donkeys, emus, sheep and goats you could feed, and turkeys.  They said you could go in with the turkeys but we said no thank you, didn't want to get pecked.  Besides watching them chase after leaves like it was food was enough entertainment.  One of my favorite animals they had there besides the baby goats was this Brahma bull name Tiny.

Haha, kidding...I don't know what his name was but he was so huge and way cool!

After some fun pictures...

we headed out to grab our pumpkins from the pumpkin "patch".

The pumpkins are too small to carve so I decided we could put our initials on them.  I just used a sharpie paint pen.

My sister did one of her doodles on her pumpkin.  Isn't it so awesome?! I love it!
Here's the other side...

My sister is quite the artist and she really talented!  She has her art degree and one of her classes in college was block printing.  She gave me a few prints from some of her blocks.  This first one is a peacock.  She found an image online and made it into a print.  She used oil based printing ink so if I wanted to paint the white parts I could and the paint wouldn't stick to the black parts.  Hmmm...aqua???

This next one is actually the work of my sister's classmate.

and this last one is another of my sister's that she did of a rose.

mad talent, right?  Unfortunately my extremely talented sis went home yesterday.  It was a great visit and I feel like we grew a lot closer.  Thanks for coming out Amy, I miss you!
