Gettin' my chevron on!

I finally joined the band wagon.  And I'm super happy!!!  I saw an awesome rug on House of Smith's and Tatertots and Jello.  I literally went out and bought the supplies the next day.  Did I start the project right away?  Nope of course not, that isn't my style ;-) But that doesn't matter now, cuz I finished it today!

I pretty much copied Shelley and Jen's tutorials verbatim.  You can check out Shelley's here and Jen's here.

I rolled out my Egeby rug and taped off the edges.

Then with a sponge roller I rolled on my white latex paint.  And I am not gonna lie, it sucked up the paint.  I had a quart of one coat white and used it all.  I definitely didn't get even coverage but I was fine with it.

At first I thought I would tape off my zig zags chevron pattern but got pretty discouraged when I couldn't get the spacing right.  So I bit the bullet and printed out a  template with Sophie the silhouette and some vinyl.  Worked great!

Because I was too lazy to find a ruler I just used a piece of vinyl to measure my spacing between zig zags.

Using a small paintbrush and some free aqua paint from one of my best buds, I started dapping on the paint.  Things were going well for about 5 minutes then I messed it up....grrrr.  You can see below how I put the template in the wrong spot. :-(  Nothing a bit of white paint can't fix.

Here it is in my entry way...

You can really see my boo boo in this picture.  I still need to distress it with my sander and I think that will help mask it even more.  I just couldn't wait to get it in my entry way!!

Ask Me Anything!!!

Today is the first day I totally feel like myself again.  Whatever that "bug" was, it sure wasn't friendly!  The girls' are better too.  Lily ended up with it too.  Now the hubby is in bed feeling rotten. :-(  In case you didn't know I LOATHE being sick.  Throws my whole rhythm off.  I haven't been on the computer much and I feel so behind on my daily reads.  And I have done zero crafting.  Okay that isn't quite the truth.  I made some not-worthy-of-a-photo-shoot crap with polymer clay.  I blame being dehydrated as the reason why there was a lack of awesomeness.

Since I got nuttin' to show you guys I thought we could have a Q & A.

Remember waaaaay back when I hit 200 followers and I mentioned having a ask me anything type deal?Yeah I know, I barely remembered myself.  Well anyhoo...now is the time!

I hear square heads are all the rage somewhere.  I don't have photoshop on my laptop and knew if I waited to do this on our PC  I would just put it off or forget all about it (again!) So thus was born square-headed-horse- face Andi!!!

You guys can ask me in an email or ask me in the comments, whichever you would like.  I think after about a week I will compile the questions and post the answers.  Sound fun?  Okay all of you nodding you heads....ask away!  No pressure or anything. Ask as many questions as you want!  And those of you reading but never comment (still love ya!) this would be a great time for me to say hi and we can get to know each other!  Please don't leave me hangin', it's bad for my complexion.

Day 5 giveaway winner!!

Hey there!  Ugh...so much for having the mojo back.  Natalie and I came down with some stomach bug, blech.  She had to miss her last day of dance camp.  There was a performance and play in which she was snow white and had a line to recite :-(  We are both totally bummed that she had to miss it.  We are both feeling a bit better.  My hubby came home early from work and we were both able to get some rest.  I took a 3 hour nap!  I'm hoping tomorrow we'll we be back to normal so I can get some things checked off my to do list!

Day 4 giveaway winner!

Wow!  This one is going up super late...sorry!  I was out all day and when we got home it was dinner, baths, and bed for the girls.  Then I got sidetracked with this show...

source
Did you watch it tonight?  Hilarious! So I just had to share! It was nerds vs. hotties.  One guy was home schooled and they called him the "home scholar" and another guy was dressed up in this mask and sword get up because he was a "LARPer" For those of you who don't know what that is, Live Action Role Playing.  Basically they act out a role playing game, like Dungeons and Dragons.  I myself had never heard of this and to be honest thought RPG's in general were kinda comical.  Just never saw the fascination in pretending to be a wizard or what not.  So to find out that some people even dress up and pretend to cast spells etc. is hysterical!  The host couldn't even keep it together because she was laughing so hard!  The commentary makes the show!

Okay back to the reason for this post.  The winner of Day 4's giveaway courtesy of random.org is...

Amy @ A Perfect Tin!!!  Amy you are now the owner of this hand painted star box from Renee at Where the Grass is Greener!  Congrats!  Be on the look out for an email from me!

Okay guys, last giveaway ends tomorrow!  So if you haven't entered check my side bar!  Good luck!
And I am feeling much better today and the mojo is back.  I have a few projects I'm working on that I hope the finish very soon so stay tuned!

********************

Way back in November, Black Monday to be exact, I ordered a Silhouette.  I have used her (she's a girl) about 4 times.  I want to use her more so I have been trying to think of projects.  She came with a roll of vinyl.  I am not much for vinyl sayings on the walls but I'm all about vinyl on my computer!!!

She can work magic!  Now if only they were in aqua! ;-)
And after doing this project I highly recommend the fancy tool the silhouette people sell on their site and to not think you "don't need no stinkin' transfer paper".  Both would have made this project a lot quicker and easier.  Either way I love it.  Makes me feel fancy.

Seems like everyone names their Silhouettes.  Maybe if she had a name I would use her more.  Any suggestions?

Wine and Design and some really thoughtful gifts

Last night was June's Wine and Design at Cassie's house.  As always I had a blast!!  The theme was clay.  I had intentions of making some tags for my shop but forgot the letters I wanted to use.  So I made this tiny little bunting out of polymer clay, although I'm really not sure about the color.

And once it's baked I may glam it up a bit.  It's super tiny and it will most likely go on a tiny wreath for my kitchen.  I stamped suns and ice cream cones because they made me think of summer.

I also made this sand dollar out of air dry clay.  I cut out a circle with what essentially was a cookie cutter then I used a sand dollar rubber stamp.  Easy peasy.

I love it!  I have no clue what I will do with it but I think I will make lots more and come up with something.  The wheels are turning!

I made another sand dollar out of polymer clay and I actually ended up making a tag.

Since I took the picture I cleaned up the sand dollar around the edges and poked a hole in it.  I was thinking it would make a pretty necklace.

As you guys know my birthday was last week.  Yesterday morning the girls and I went to Cassie's house.  The kids played while Cassie and I chatted.  She gave me my birthday present when I walked in.  I was blown away!  Here's what she was holding...

A lovely white owl...

A pretty vintage pyrex-esque dish (see above)...

And an aqua box with the first letter of my last name...

Now let's take a look inside the box.

A pretty milk glass dish...

An aqua egg cup with a chicken on it :-)...

A cute little Avon bird...

Some vintage brooches (the one with the B is for Cassie once I make something out of it)...

Some vintage earrings...

And a beautiful necklace...

I couldn't ask for a more thoughtful gift!  So thanks again Cassie!

Last night at wine and design Emily walked in with a bag and said it was for me.  Here's what was inside it...

Um...people!!! Milk glass AND aqua!!!!  I couldn't stop looking at it.  Still can't. :-)

And Jazz also was sweet and brought me a birthday gift.

Beautiful turquoise earrings!  And she handmade the card!!  And if you're reading this Jazz...many hugs your way ;-) !!

Thanks guys!!!! Best birthday EVER!!!!!

Dad Rocks

Father's Day is tomorrow and I had been looking for something that the girls both could make and that my hubby could take to work and display on his desk.  I stumbled upon this awesome craft by Crafts by Amanda.  Not only would it be fun but it was on our to do list for summer!

Yesterday I made a double batch of salt dough and found some itty bitty rocks outside.  I divided the dough in half and gave the girls some rocks.  Natalie patted out her dough until it was about 1/2 inch thick (I helped her a little)  Then I 'wrote' the words, "Dad Rocks" so that Natalie had a guide on where to place the rocks.  I forgot to take pictures because I was in such a hurry to get them in the oven before my husband came home from work!  So here are the afters:

Natalie's...

And Lily's...(how cute is that?)

I plan to write/paint the date and the kids names on them and then spray them with some acrylic.

For whatever reason Natalie's looks like this on the back...

I think I may just cover it with felt or something or I may just leave it.

But either way I think my husband is going to love them!

I hope to be back later to share my crafts from wine and design last night!
Have a wonderful weekend!
