Past Projects Part 1

Hello!  Hope everyone's weekend was fabulous!  The weather finally cooled down here, it's sad when a high of 86 is cooler!  So my brain has been working overtime and has been preoccupied with a huge redecorating project (more on that soon!) so I haven't really done any crafting.  I get sidetracked pretty easily and right now I've been wasting spending my free time drooling over furniture and paint samples.

I thought I would share with you some pictures of my past crafts and yummy goodies and where I got the ideas.  I apologize ahead of time for my lack of photography skills and my carpet...bleck!

Valentine garland...

I got this idea from here but I used 3 different colors of card stock and scalloped scissors to cut them out then I glued buttons on the hearts.

Here's a close up:

 Red velvet cake balls....

These are sooo yummy.  Got this idea from Bakerella.  If you haven't heard of her and her famous cake balls and cake pops you should check out her site.  She has some great ideas.  And her pictures are just pure eye candy.

 Cupcake liner wreath...

This was so much fun to make and only cost about $7!!  You can find out how to make your own here.

Family rules....

No, you aren't seeing things...nothing is actually written on there yet. Rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules.  It is utter chaos around here!  Only kidding I just haven't gotten around to putting our rules on their yet because I am lazy picky and can't decide on the fonts I want to use.  I got the idea from Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy.

Side note:  She lives in San Luis Obispo, where my parents and a lot of extended family are from, and her house is my dream home!  She is also one of my inspirations for deciding to redecorate one of our rooms....her home is gorgeous and I love her style!

Bibs...

These are a couple bibs I have made.  The idea came from this tutorial.  I drew my pattern free hand and sewed on velcro for the closure.  I have since made more and used pearl snaps but didn't take any pictures. FAIL!!  When I sew up some more I will not forget to take pictures.

Scrabble tile magnets...

This is a HORRIBLE picture but sadly it's the only I have of these little cuties.  These are fun to make!! There are a ton of tutorials on the web.  Not sure exactly where I saw them first but I got all my supplies on Etsy, including the cute owl pics. I also got some Twilight themed pics that I made into magnets for my bff.  Love the twilight series btw...Go team Edward!!

Rainbow cake and cupcakes...

I made this cake for Natalie's 4th birthday party after seeing it here.

Then I thought I would use the same idea for St. Patrick's day and make some cupcakes.  For the toppers I just found a rainbow clip art that I liked and printed it out and glued it to some toothpicks.  I don't have a picture of it but I also put plastic gold coins on top.

Here's a picture of the bowls of colored batter:

So cool!  Love the colors!  The key is gel coloring.  I have the Wilton brand.  They sell them at Wally world and Michael's.

Cape and I Spy bag...

I made this for my nephew's 5th birthday.  He is a HUGE Spongebob fan.  I basically just drew out a pattern for a huge bib and appliqued the circle and initial. Easy Peasy!

This is an I spy bag that is filed with little trinkets to find.  I just scanned the objects before I put them in the bag and then printed it out so my nephew knew what was inside.  These are great for car rides or while waiting at the doctor.

Rainbow bean bags and drawstring bag...

This tutorial inspired these except I filled mine with lentils and I made a drawstring bag to keep them in.  The girls love them.  Now just to finish their hopscotch mat.

So there are some of my past projects and edible goodies.  Hope you enjoyed it because part 2 is up next!

I'm going to leave you with one last picture that I found while going through my pics...

I'll stop complaining about the hot weather now....
