Yard sale and some sewing

Today was our yard sale.  We have had one every year for the last 4 years.  And each each year we do really well.  Usually averaging around $200.  I guess our streak had to come to an end.  Today was a bust as far as moolah.  Only made about 60 bucks and that was in the first 15 minutes.  It was a beautiful day but we had very few customers.  Our big ticket items, a lazy boy recliner and Ikea corner desk did not sell.  Everything else that didn't sell went to Goodwill.  The whole reason we even have a yard sale is to get rid of stuff we don't want or need anymore.  The money is the icing on the cake.  So as far as getting rid of our stuff, we were successful.  I'm just happy it's gone!

After I dropped the stuff off at Goodwill I headed to Joann's for some piping to finish a sewing project I've been working on.  I'm sure you guys have heard of Susan at Living with Punks.  She has awesome projects, one of them being theses Land of Nod inspired floor cushions.  The first time I saw them I knew I wanted to make them.  That was last year. haha.  So today I finally crossed this project off my list.

I chose fabric that would coordinate with our living room since that is where the girls wil be using them. I love this pattern! I have material to make a second one so the girls each have their own.  I was going to wait to share when I finished both but I couldn't wait!  I still consider myself a beginner sewer.  I would probably be much better if I did it more often.  But with that said this project was easy!!  Don't be intimidated.  Susan's tutorial is very easy to follow and I'm sure any questions you have she would be more then happy to answer.  She's cool like that.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  Tomorrow Lily and I are off to Lucketts to see Cassie and Emily and hopefully come home with some goodies.  I am so excited!!

Party on...

  5. those floor cushions are AWESOME!

Have fun at lucketts! I went today and it was sooooo much busier than I was expecting! Hopefully it will be a little more chill tomorrow- I felt like some of those ladies were like OUT TO GET A DEAL and would run you over for it! But it was still so great- I didn't buy anything but got a good fill of eye candy.

  7. Um....excuse me Andi.....if you can make that AWESOME pouffy pillow, you are NOT a beginner. That thing is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Seriosuly!!
Bummer about the yard sale. At least you got rid of your junk (and made room for more treasures, ha ha).

  8. So cute! Love that fabric. And that pillow has also been on my to-do list for a year, and I haven't even bought fabric for it yet... so you are WAY ahead of me!
